Bridal makeup and hair, by one artist, on the morning of your wedding

Both halves of the look done by the same pair of hands, in the room where you are getting ready — so there is one person to trust and one timeline to keep, instead of two teams to coordinate.

What's included

Bridal Makeup

Long-wear application built on your own skin rather than on a reference photo — base, colour and intensity chosen for your colouring, the dress neckline and how the look needs to read in photographs.

Bridal Hair

Updos, half-up styles and soft waves, built on the real texture and length of your hair. Veil, pins, flowers or jewellery are placed at the trial and not improvised on the morning.

Trial Session

The appointment where the look is actually decided, the products are tested on your skin, and the timing of the morning is worked out. Nothing about the wedding day should be a first attempt.

Touch-Up Kit

A small kit left with you or your maid of honour — the two or three things that actually get used between the ceremony and the last dance, not a bag you have to think about.

The trial is where the wedding look is decided

The trial exists so that the wedding morning is an execution, not a discussion. It is booked far enough ahead that a second direction is still possible if the first one is not right, and close enough to the date that your skin and hair are in the condition they will actually be in. A trial the week of the wedding is a rehearsal — by then there is no room left to change your mind.

Bring the things the look has to live with: a photograph of the dress, the veil or hair piece if you already have it, your earrings, and any reference images you have saved — including the ones you have decided against, because knowing what you do not want narrows the work faster than knowing what you do. It also helps to come with your hair washed the way it will be washed before the wedding, and to say plainly if you never wear makeup, because a bride who does not recognise herself in the mirror will not relax in front of a camera.

We also use the trial to measure. How long your hair takes to set, how your skin behaves under the base after an hour, how many people are being prepared before you — those numbers become the schedule for the morning, and that schedule goes to you and to whoever is coordinating the day.

The morning, in order

A getting-ready room runs on one rule: whoever has to leave the room first is finished first, and the bride is finished last. Mothers and bridesmaids often need to be dressed and gone before the photographer wants the bride in her dress; a bride who is done too early spends an hour waiting and blotting.

Guests and the bridal party

The mother of the bride, the maid of honour and the bridesmaids are prepared in the same appointment, in the order the day needs them, not the order they arrive.

Hair, then makeup

Hair is set first so that anything that needs to cool, hold or be pinned has time, and so that no part of the style is built over finished makeup.

The last fifteen minutes

Veil placement, a final check in daylight rather than under bathroom light, and the two touch-up products left where you can reach them.

If a photographer or videographer is in the room, the timing accounts for them too — the detail shots of the dress and the rings usually happen while hair is being finished, and the first look has to be far enough after the last brushstroke that nobody is rushed.

Built to last the whole day, in the weather you are actually marrying in

An Italian wedding day is rarely kind to makeup. A ceremony in the sun on Lake Garda, a boat transfer on Como, a hundred embraces, an evening that runs past midnight, and — with almost no exceptions — tears. None of that is a surprise, so none of it is improvised.

The base is chosen for the season and the venue rather than from habit: airbrush and traditional application each have days they are better suited to, and that choice is made at the trial with your skin in front of us. Hair is built for the same conditions — a style that holds in lake wind and humidity, and that survives the veil coming off, because the photographs after the veil comes off are the ones that end up framed.

Makeup also has to read correctly to a camera, which is not the same as reading correctly in a mirror. Flash flattens, and a face that looks perfectly done at arm's length can look under-done in the pictures. That is why a bride is usually wearing a little more than she would choose for herself — and why the trial includes taking photographs of you, in daylight and with flash, rather than trusting the mirror.

Frequently asked

How long before the wedding should the trial be?

Far enough ahead that anything you want changed can still be changed, and close enough that your skin and hair are in the condition they will be in on the day. A trial the week of the wedding is a rehearsal, not a decision.

Do you do hair as well, or only makeup?

Both, myself, on location. Hair and makeup are two halves of one image and only work when they are decided together — a high updo changes the way light falls on the face, a veil set low at the nape shifts the balance of the whole style.

How long does the wedding morning take?

It depends on your hair length and texture, the style you choose, and how many people are being prepared before you. I work the timing out before the trial rather than after, and share it with you and with whoever is coordinating the day.

Can you get my mother and bridesmaids ready too?

Yes, in the same appointment. The order matters: whoever has to be dressed and out of the room first goes first, and the bride goes last so her look is freshest in the first photographs.

Will the makeup last through an outdoor ceremony in summer?

That is what it is built for. Heat, humidity, lake wind and tears are all planned for at the trial — the base, the setting and the choice of application all follow from where and when you are getting married.
